At Roundwood we have an exciting opportunity for a hard-working, flexible and energetic individual with a mature outlook to join our team of dedicated staff. The role would suit a candidate who has experience working in food preparation and hospitality and is looking for the next step to take on more responsibility.

 

Role and Responsibilities

We are a small team and the role will involve working across all areas of the business however the main area of responsibility will be in and around the kitchen. The role includes (but is not limited to):

Welcoming customers and taking orders

Taking payments

Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including coffee from our Barista machine (full training can be given)

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in kitchen, bar and seating areas

Preparing food including party buffets; light lunches; afternoon tea and baking cakes (for up to 100 people)

Serving food

Answering the phone and dealing with enquiries

Managing stock and taking on responsibility for ordering materials, supplies and ingredients

Overseeing the health and safety requirements of the kitchen in line with current legislation

Checking in and out campers visiting the campsite

Delivering campers’ equipment to their pitch using our onsite gator

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the campsite

Opening and closing the centre and campsite

An ability to contribute towards the marketing would be desirable

 

Person Specification

This is a customer facing role for much of the time so the successful candidate needs to be someone who enjoys meeting and talking to people and has a friendly attitude.

The person will be a key holder and therefore must be trustworthy and reliable with excellent time-keeping skills

They must also demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills for working as part of a team
  • Self-motivation to work alone when required
  • Decision making skills – to deal with the unexpected
  • Strives to deliver to a high standard
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings

 

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Experience working in the hospitality industry in a customer facing role

Experience in preparing food in a commercial premises including an understanding of allergen control and Safer Food Better Business practices

The candidate must be over the age of 18 to be able to serve alcohol

The candidate must have a full clean driving licence to be able to drive our onsite vehicle

Minimum Grade C or 5 in English and Maths GCSE

 

Desirable (although full training can be provided for the right candidate)

First Aid qualification

Experience using a Barista coffee machine

Level 2 or higher Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience in kitchen management

Experience in marketing

 

Hours and Pay

The role will initially be 20 hours per week.

The hours will include mornings, evenings and weekends depending on bookings

The ability to be flexible is essential as hours may vary from week to week and also between winter and summer seasons. However, we also have some degree of flexibility to take into account other commitments.

Pay will be between £11.50 and £13.50 per hour depending on experience and ability to take on some/all areas of responsibility from the start.
